A pun-based piece that toys with the word “Unicorn”.

Uni, is typically used as a prefix in the formation of compound words, with the meaning “one.” In this piece, I’ve opted to give the traditional model of a unicorn, essentially a magical, mythical horse with a large single horn emerging from the center of its head, a single ear of corn to represent its horn. This is accompanied with corn stalks and husks to form the unicorn’s mane and tail.

This portfolio features various stages of this project’s development. Listed below are some supplementary details.

  • Final printed version of the image. 4-Color Silkscreen Print on Kraft paper.
  • Final printed version of the image. 4-Color Silkscreen Print on Fawn paper.
  • First printed layer (WHITE).
  • Second printed layer (GREEN).
  • Third printed layer (YELLOW).
  • Close-up of third layer to showcase some of the color ranges due to overprinting and transparencies.
  • Vector version of the image – This image provides a basis to how the image should have ended up printing. Perhaps using some stronger/more pigmented base colors, and transparency within certain inks, this image could have been achieved.
