A print designed for a fundraising auction at Artists Image Resource.
This piece was created to explore some of the potential rewards and limitations of utilizing watercolors and silkscreens. Watercolor paints were applied to the surface of the silkscreen and allowed to dry in various patterns and splatters. The paints were then reactivated by transparent base medium, typically used in the thinning of acrylic screen printing inks. The effect is seen in the red/orange background behind the figure. The white hold-outs in the background are the result of the having a really thick watercolor paint impede the trans-base medium. In later prints, these areas are full of color.
