A print based on the narrative of St. Ursula and her 11,000 virgins.

This piece examines and explores the narrative of St. Ursula, a relatively obscure Romano-British Christian saint. In this piece, St. Ursula is represented as the red dot in the center of the image. She is surrounded by 11,000 white dots, to signify the virginal handmaidens that accompanied her on her pilgrimage.  Although the exact number of handmaidens vary (from two to eleven and even to 11,000) due to various interpretations, I’ve opted to portray the more absurd/interesting but widely accepted numeric version.

This portfolio features two variations of the project. Listed below are some supplementary details.

  • Final printed version of the image. 2-Color Silkscreen Print, White ink on white paper.
  • Final printed version of the image. 2-Color Silkscreen Print, White ink on black paper.
