An oil painting that depicts a rooster in the shape of a lollipop.
In this piece I wished to play around with a simple euphemism. Typically when I set out to explore a general idea or theme, I come up with several ways to convey the intended message behind the piece. This is simply a companion piece to my most recent post, Rooster Lollipop. Some other variations existed in the sketch phase ranging from a gory severed rooster head on a lollipop stick to a more illustrated/stylized silkscreen friendly version of a rooster with a lollipop jammed down its throat. Although, I feel that these may have their place somewhere in society, they were a little too much, and ultimately died during the sketch phase.
