A digital print, that focuses on an aerial view of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and its surrounding communities.
In this piece, I simply drew all of the current roadways within and surrounding the city of Pittsburgh. Once the pathways were drawn, I colored the areas that were created through the various roads’ intersections. This is the end result, and acts as a homage to the city that I have lived in for the past 15 years. This project was originally slated to be a 5-7 color silkscreen print, but I found it incredibly frustrating to maintain a decent registration at such a large scale. After, numerous failed attempts at a smaller print dimension, I opted to create a digital version of this print.
