This print was created to explore the notion and meaning of the word “Perfection.”
I view my work as an evolution or continuum, whereby elements from previous projects inform and influence the current work. This print showcases previous cannibalized ideas and abstract imagery to reinterpret and provide a framework or potential for a narrative or dialog. Through the use of these simple elements, I hope to touch on a more complex issue or idea behind the meaning of “perfection”.
The struggle for the idea of ‘perfection’ is a constant in my own work. I always tend to over analyze and focus in on insignificant details, that only myself would ever pick up on. This struggle only limits my artwork, and I am working on improving this constant ‘seeking of perfection.’ This work marks a starting point at accepting that perfection cannot be obtained in life and art. That to be perfect, one must have an imperfection within it. The deliberate misplaced dark square marks this imperfection, breaking up the monotony and repetitive grid pattern. This is my attempt at a ‘perfect’ piece, as forms are reduced to simple geometric shapes and simple values.
