This is a study re-appropriating some of my previous layered print work.
The inspiration for this piece came from a simple ceramic tile for a shower or kitchen back splash. I was immediately drawn to the colors and quality of the tile, and was curious enough to see if it would work as a piece of art. With this small scale study, I had hoped to be wowed enough to make me pursue a larger endeavor. Currently, I have no plans to increase the scale of this piece.
As mentioned above, this work re-appropriates some of my earlier print work. It stems from a series of layered works, whereby each color field consisted of 13-16 individual color layers to create a specific value or hue. The end result of this print actually consists of around 60-64 colors to make up these 4 distinct color fields.
