An early multi-stone lithograph experimenting colors and registration.
This piece depicts a small crop of rocks out in Nevada’s Red Rock Canyon. The title asks the questions “Is this image really that grand? – With its minuscule scale does it even begin to capture the magnitude of these elements? – Can an image or artwork even capture nature’s majestic qualities?” I believe the answer to be no….or at least in this example. Perhaps Thomas Moran’s orĀ Albert Bierstadt’s works are able to capture if not transcend some of nature’s beauty.
